Today I rode the the Wyoming Valley Levee System.
Started out in Wyoming by the Airport, the top of the dike is paved, but is starting to deteriorate, it’s a nice ride with the River on one side and a view of the Mountains on the other, You do hit some sidewalk and traffic when your spit out on River st. Hooked up on the Kingston Levee and rode that to Kirby Park, then took the Olmstead trail that runs in the woods behind Kirby park to Nesbitt park, and back to Wyoming.
It was a cold windy day but I hung in there for around a 10 and a half mile ride

www.justsouthofnorth.com has more of our adventures.
Today the Northern Rangers headed out to Beaver Lake. I recently got a new mountain bike. It’s a 2009 Specialized Rockhopper. So I was stoked to try it out. Jeff brought his mountain bike, a 2004 Specialized Hardrock. Needless to say, we were representing the Specialized brand today.
We were looking for a good place to try out my new ride and came across a ranking from King 5 and Evening Magazine that ranked the best mountain bike trails in the Seattle area. They ranked Beaver Lake number 3 for for 2009. We decided that we would head out there and give it a try as it’s not too far from our office.
It wasn’t a very hard trail minus one log bridge that had a big lip to get up onto. You had to ride at it and pull up your front tire to hop the lip. Needless to say, it was entertaining. Here, watch for yourself.

20.5 miles round-trip up Millcreek Canyon, Utah. This is a classic trail used by many bikers, hikers and trail runners. It gets quite steep at times, but there are very few sections that you have to hike-a-bike. I rode this solo on my 33rd birthday. Bike used was a 2007 Titus Motolite.

Berkshire Chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association Project #2 – Taconic Crest Trail Weedwacking Mountain Biking
This trail was used for the 2008 Kenda Mountain Bike Festival’s Epic Loop from just below Berry Pond over to Potter Mt. Road.
Curly’s Trail Marathon (running) 2008 also utilized this trail and actually was the reason we worked on the section from Berry Pond to Tower Mountain.

Today I rode the D&H Rail to trail, I started out in Forest City, there are several bridge crossings over the Lackawanna River, some of the trail is sand covered and robs your speed, and you do have to dodge the Horse droppings on the trail
After about the 8 mile mark the trail gets pretty ruff, but I wanted to get my 20 miles in.
I was talking to Nancy who I met at the 5 mile mark, she has been on the Forestry and rail to trail Council for a combined 21 years, and she said they were going to improve the next ten miles next year.
You can follow this D&H Rail all the way to New York!

I took a Specialized Stumpjumper from The Bicycle Chain in Chapel Hill out for a test drive today. I rode down the Battle Park trail just behind the Forest Theater on the edge of UNC’s campus. The trail is pretty rocky and has several small creek crossings that were challenging and fun.
