where are specialized mountain bikes made?

I’m shopping for a new mountain bike and i"m aiming for bikes that are specifically made in the u.s.

VERY FEW bikes are made here in the states – Rocky Mountain is made in Canada.

Some of the highend product from Trek and Fisher are, but you’d better be willing to throw down some cash ~ $1200 or more.

In order to produce a competitive priced bike, the manufacturer has no choice but, to go over seas.

Per capita, China has the largest concentration of cyclists in the world – it only makes sense that they know how to build a bike really cheap over there.

Their is a US bike that goes by the nick-name of "Crack-n-… Oh I’d better not say – but I’ve broken two in three years time! It’s what my sponsor told me he wanted me to ride. Glad it wasn’t Mine!

All specialzed are made asian sweat shops.

High end, $2000+ carbon Treks are made in the USA

Custom is the only way now days to get quality USA.

    Here is a carbon/steel mix custom http://www.landsharkbicycles.com/FCLS.htm
Better have big bucks though. Oh yeah it’s mine too, the road bike is the builders own bike.

Scott USA makes some really nice mountain bikes, they have a decent price range. Cannondale is also mostly handmade in the USA, and also range from the hundreds to the thousands. They are both as good as specialized any day if not better.

Chinese (mainland) made bikes are ok. China (Taiwan) makes better bikes that even high-end brands put their name on them (Specialized, Pinarello, Giant, Cannondale’s carbon bikes, and even Merlin’s carbon fiber bike, etc.). US made bikes are Waterfords (what was the original Schwinn Paramounts), Litespeed titanium, Merlin titanium, Cannondale aluminum, etc. Regardless of origin, Specialized bikes are of uniformly superior quality and some of the best riding bikes for the money.

BTW, despite the name, Scott USA is a European company with many bikes made in Asia. Still very nice bikes though.

Oh yeah, I own 3 US-made bikes with parts from all over. A Litespeed, a Cannondale MTB and an Barracuda MTB.

Specialized have a good marketing campaign, that is why their brand is well known. They are most prob’ly made in ‘Narm’ or Taiwan e.t.c.

Buy CANNONDALE, their frames are far superior to other companies offerings and are all made in the US of A.

I think that Specialized makes some very nice bikes, maybe some of the best ones for a mainstream company. I had a Stumpjumper FSR and a Cannondale Jekyll, and while both were very nice, I felt the Stumpjumper a little better overall. I also felt that Specialized offered more standards than Cannondale, which is more special in what you can upgrade or not.

I think that most or all of Specialized bikes are made in Taiwan.

If you’re searching for country of origin for a support us jobs, you’re good, but if it’s a perceived quality issue, forget about that and it doens’t matter if it’s made in Taiwan. Taiwan makes lots more bikes than probably elsewhere, and they really know how to build them. It’s just depend wich particular brands you buy them from. Also, it’s funny that people are very particular on the frame, but then just put everything else made elsewhere.

  9. OK first consider a great take a look yourself. What do you like what do you not like so much. Work on that which you do not like. But don’t listen to other people their thoughts don’t matter only yours does. Work on having the attitude that this really is who you’re and if they don’t like it they are able to go to hell.

  10. Hmmm…very great to find out, there were without the need of a doubt several issues that I had not thought of before.
