Aliso Woods – 5 Oaks Mountain Bike Trail

This is a video from a day out mountain biking in Aliso Woods Park on Aliso Viejo California. You’ll have the excuse the mediocre riding as I’m still recovering from an injury. I suffered a puncture (pencil eraser sized) about 3-4 minutes in and had to try and pump the tire up to make it to the bottom and put a tube in.

Date: 5-22-10
Location: Aliso Woods
Trail: 5 Oaks
Riders: Erik Bruner (Filmer) – Specialized Pitch Pro, Miles Kushin – Specialized 2010 Enduro Expert

Seasons- New Mountain Bike Film teaser from the Collective

http://www.x-tremevideo.com/comingsoon/index.cfm?ccs=79&cs=969

Seasons is a film that follows seven of the world’s top mountain bikers through the course of four seasons of one year. The film explores what it means to be a full time rider as told through the lives of downhill racers, slopestyle competitors, and big mountain freeriders.

The main riders in the film are: Darren Berrecloth, Matt Hunter, Cam McCaul, Steve Peat, Andrew Shandro, Steve Smith, and Thomas Vanderham. There will also be some guest appearances by others who cross paths with the main seven riders.

The Collective has been working on Seasons non-stop for the last twelve months, and is now in post production on the film, cutting together footage from multiple shoots with every rider, ranging from slopestyle competitions to World Cup downhill races, to epic backcountry freeride shoots.

“The film has been a ton of work for everyone involved,” says Jamie Houssian of The Collective, “so it’s nice to finally see it come together in the studio. It’s a new type of film for the action sports genre. We’re stoked to show people something a little different”.

Seasons is sponsored by Specialized, Shimano, Adidas Eyewear, Whistler Mountain Bike Park, Bontrager, Dakine, Helly Hansen, and Pinkbike.com. The film’s theatrical World Tour starts in April 2008 and the DVD will be available in May 2008 in bike shops worldwide and from www.thecollectivefilm.com

Has anyone tried the Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc 2010 mountain bike? Is it good?

I have just bought one, waiting for it to come in the store. Cant find any reviews online as its so new.
Ok, thanks, what hydraulic disc brakes would you recommend? How much are they, and how much do you think they would cost to get fitted?
I got mine 3 days ago, rides sweet, brakes are pretty sweet. Happy all round. :) Thanks

You wont find anyone riding 2010 spesh’s yet. They arent shipping them till the end of the month. 7/29 I think it was.

The Hardrock pro is a very solid bike, nothing crazy but certainly nothing crappy either. Make a nice 1st mountain bike.

For brakes, go with the Avid Elixirs. They’re pretty cheap and absolutely destroy the old Juicy lineup in terms of performance. You can get them for less than $100 per wheel and they perform nearly as well as brakes that are 2-3 times as much, like the Codes or Code 5’s. Shouldnt cost more than $15-20 to install unless they need to bleed them as well, in which case you’re probably looking at $20-30 per wheel.

Very cool rustic wetlands trails, I was by myself so I set the video camera up on a tripod and filmed myself riding parts of the trail.

Can I put 2.3" tires on my 03 specialized enduro mountain bike?

How do I know if I can increase from 2.2 tires to 2.3 in the front?

It shouldn’t be a problem, you might encounter clearance problems if you go to a 2.5 but a 2.3 will be OK as long as you don’t go to an extremely knobby tire with tall knobs.

where are specialized mountain bikes made?

I’m shopping for a new mountain bike and i"m aiming for bikes that are specifically made in the u.s.

VERY FEW bikes are made here in the states – Rocky Mountain is made in Canada.

Some of the highend product from Trek and Fisher are, but you’d better be willing to throw down some cash ~ $1200 or more.

In order to produce a competitive priced bike, the manufacturer has no choice but, to go over seas.

Per capita, China has the largest concentration of cyclists in the world – it only makes sense that they know how to build a bike really cheap over there.

Their is a US bike that goes by the nick-name of "Crack-n-… Oh I’d better not say – but I’ve broken two in three years time! It’s what my sponsor told me he wanted me to ride. Glad it wasn’t Mine!

can you put road gears on a mountain bike ?

Im riding to Temecula from Sherman oaks and i snapped my road bike ?I’ve done it 2x already and the mountain bike (specialized enduro ) gears scare me a bit Im on a low budget help

I’ve considered changing the my big chain ring for something with more top end speed, but I’m fairly lousy at those tiny adjustments regarding derailleurs. The bike is mostly geared for power. If you are fairly good at the adjustment thing, maybe that one component could help your road ride? If not, you might be able to pick up some narrower semi-slick or slick tires (with tubes, ’cause the 2"+ sizes might not fit the skinny tires and those pesky cactus thorns can be very sneaky) and help the road performance a bit. This would be an easier, minor and temporary alternative to re-gearing. Otherwise the full conversion to road gears may require some extensive modifications with front gears, rear cassette, and derailleurs/shifters/cables and sometimes brake adjustments, depending on your system.
