Mountain Bike Morocco with Big Mountain: www.ridebig.com

We’ll begin our adventure in Marrakech, the stunning 1000 year-old ochre-colored city with a vibrant street life and a chaos of cultures. At night, we’ll explore the walled Medina, the old town, and the labyrinth of ultra-narrow streets, through crowded markets and smoky alleys with saffron and cumin wafting in the air. Then, we’ll drive in our Land Rovers to the highest mountain range in North Africa – the High and Middle Atlas. These rugged, prehistoric, flat-topped mountains are laced with dirt roads and trails still used by the nomadic Berber peoples – the ancient race that inhabits the Atlas and has since Neolithic times. In the Atlas, we will ride for 8 days on a backcountry traverse, living among the Berbers, riding singletrack and double track up and over passes, through small villages and camps. Every night we will sip mint tea and stare up at the blanket of stars in the desert sky. Every day we will pedal where few mountain bikes have ever gone, and experience new adventures at every turn.

What recommendations do you have for purchasing a mountain bike?

I want to purchase a mountain bike (used and/or new) and need to know what brands would be the best, what sizes there are (what should I be). I am a female about 5′5 looking for a bike that I can use on mountain trails and street recreational biking.

I have two – a Specialized Rockhopper and Raleigh M80. I like both. Both are stable on the trails.

If you aren’t going to be riding heavy duty off road, you may want to stick with front suspension only (aka hardtail). My Rockhopper is old and has no suspension and my Raleigh has front suspension.

Make sure to get one that fits – of anything that’s probably the most important. Depending on what you want to spend, most brands are very similar within the price ranges. You might see slight differences in frame geometry, but probably nothing that notiecably effects the ride.

I recommend trying a few out. You’ll hit one that feels like an extension of yourself.

Do you think this bike is ok for me?

I want a bike to ride around town and sometimes cross-train instead of running.. I know it is a mountain bike, but most people said it had a smooth ride.. Is this an ok bike to ride around in??

NO!!!! Never ever ever buy a full suspension bike for that cheap, or any bike for that matter. Do yourself a favor and go to a real bike store and spend at least $300 on a bike. I just picked up a really basic Giant MB for $200 on clearance that was normally about $300, so now is the time for good deals.

The one at Wally World is made to look cool and that’s about it. It’s gonna be bottom of the line crappy parts, weigh a ton, and will be out of adjustment and likely break very quickly.

A Mountain Bike having Gear Changing Problems?

Hi….
Well I currently have a Hardrock Comp. Specialized mountain bike. In certain gears they will skip "teeth" on the gear and when I shift into lower gears sometimes the front wont change and sometimes the chain wont catch the gear at the rear and the chain will slide right off.
Is there an adjustment…or needs to be greased…or is it possibly dirty?

ajustment, take it to the shop, theyll know… the cables is porbbly loose.
